Corporate Refugees Looking to Own their Own Business
Many people move into a franchise business from the world of big business, choosing to transfer their skills into something that they can call their own.
Part of the appeal is the idea of being at the centre of their very own business - no longer simply a cog in the wheel of someone else´s. These people are sometimes known as "corporate refugees ".
Many "corporate refugees " choose the do-it-yourself option, and start a business of their own, all by themselves. This can be a challenging and lonely experience.
The alternative is a franchise structure, which is quite often the perfect vehicle to becoming their own boss, while at the same time reducing some of the risks and costs associated with going it alone.
Consider the following questions when comparing a potential franchise system against the " do-it-yourself " option:
- Has the franchise system been proven? Does it work?
- Is there an initial fee, and if so, what does it entitle you to?
- Are there any additional set-up costs required?
- What ongoing benefits are there in being part of this franchise system?
- Are there any ongoing fees, and if so, how are they calculated?
- Will the franchisor help me to find customers for my business?
- What ongoing support (in the form of training or coaching) is provided by the franchisor?
Business coaching is a business that is well suited to "corporate refugees ". It appeals to people who want to run their own business using the skills and experience they have built up over their careers. A business coach must also possess a strong desire to help others in business as well.
